The certificate is awarded to public organizations, scientific and educational institutions, associations of cultural and scientific figures, as well as to individuals who take an active public stance on countering the threat of a third world war and preventing a nuclear catastrophe. It is also awarded for contributions to strengthening mutual understanding between peoples, building a multipolar world, protecting human rights and freedoms, and supporting the statutory activities of the Foundation. The decision to confer the certificate is made by the President of the Foundation.
The lapel badge is awarded for active peacemaking efforts, the protection of human rights and freedoms, or significant assistance to the work of the Foundation. The decision to confer this award is made by the President of the Foundation. The badge may be presented to both Russian and foreign citizens. It is a small circular badge (18 mm in diameter) featuring a portrait of Leo Tolstoy. The upper half of the circle is decorated with an ornamental border in the form of an olive branch, while the lower semicircular edge bears the inscriptions ‘Peace Prize Foundation’ and (in Russian) ‘Фонд премии мира.’ The badge is presented together with a certificate. The lapel badge may be awarded only once.
