The memorandum was signed in TASS

MOSCOW, March 20./TASS/. TASS and the Leo Tolstoy International Peace Prize Foundation have signed a memorandum of information partnership. The document was signed by Andrey Kondrashov, Director General of the agency, and Doku Zavgaev, Director of the foundation.
The agreement provides for joint work to cover the events of the Leo Tolstoy Peace Prize. TASS will provide prompt and comprehensive coverage of all stages of the award, from preparation to the announcement of the winners. The parties also agreed to promote the ideas of humanism and justice, which were championed by the Russian writer Leo Tolstoy and promoted by the competition.
Andrey Kondrashov, CEO of TASS, noted in his speech that the agency and the foundation promote common ideas. "We are similar in that while we are fighting against fakes and distortion of the true picture of the world, the foundation is currently engaged in strengthening peace through truth and knowledge," he said at the signing ceremony of the memorandum.
The Director of the Foundation, Doku Zavgaev, noted the high importance of the agreement. "It is very important for us to have reliable, operational information work that would accompany the steps to establish this new award," he said.
The Leo Tolstoy Peace Prize was established in 2022 by the Russian Historical Society, the Russian Peace Foundation and the Russian Military Historical Society. It is awarded by an international jury for outstanding achievements in strengthening friendship between peoples, preventing wars and fighting for the protection of human rights and freedoms. The award winners are politicians, diplomats and public figures who have made a significant contribution to peaceful development. The first Tolstoy Peace Prize in 2024 was awarded to the African Union.
