The Peace Prize Foundation and Rossiyskaya Gazeta signed a cooperation agreement

The Peace Prize Foundation is a non-profit organization established on June 22, 2022, by the Russian Historical Society, the Russian Peace Foundation, and the Russian Military History Society. The Prize is awarded for contributions to the prevention of wars, active peacekeeping efforts aimed at countering the threat of a third world war and preventing a nuclear catastrophe, as well as building a multipolar and non-violent world.
The Prize's jury consists of prominent public figures from various continents who are widely recognized and hold high moral authority in the world. These are citizens of eight BRICS, SCO, and G20 countries (including three permanent members of the UN Security Council).ership.
In particular, Russia (Valery Gergiev, Sergey Razov - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Sergey Stepashin - former Prime Minister, Vladimir Tolstoy - General Director of the Leo Tolstoy Museum), Argentina (Maria Alcaraz - Professor at the University of Buenos Aires), Belarus (Oleg Gaidukevich - Deputy of the National Assembly), India (Achala Maulik - historian and writer), China (Liu Wenfei - Vice President of the Chinese Association for Russian Studies), France (Pierre de Gaulle - public figure), South Africa (Lindiwe Susulu - statesman and politician) and Japan (Yukio Hatayama - former Prime Minister).
The first such award was given last year to the African Union for its significant contribution to peace. The award was accepted by the Chairman of the African Union Commission, Musa Faki Mahamat. The ceremony took place on September 9, 2024, in Moscow, on the historic stage of the Bolshoi Theatre.
This year, the Presidents of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov and Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev became laureates of the Leo Tolstoy International Peace Prize. They were awarded this award "for their significant personal contribution to the consolidation of peace in Central Asia." Special attention was paid to the fact that on March 31, 2025, in Khojent (Tajikistan), the Treaty on the Junction of state Borders and the Khojent Declaration of Eternal Friendship were signed. In doing so, the three presidents have made a significant contribution to ensuring universal and equal security based on the rule of international law, and to strengthening mutual understanding and cooperation among nations.
It is expected that the 2025 award ceremony will be held in December in St. Petersburg.
