Five years ago, the first Russia-Africa summit was held in Sochi. He gave a qualitatively new impetus to the development and strengthening of relations between our countries. It is symbolic that here, on the Black Sea coast, we are opening the first ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum.
The new format, approved by the heads of state, is intended to become a coordinating mechanism for the implementation of the tasks set by the presidents and prime ministers. First of all, this concerns the joint Action Plan for 2023-2026 adopted in 2023 in St. Petersburg at the second summit.
Our states and peoples are linked not only by friendly, time-tested relations, but also by the desire to make the world in which we live safer, more predictable, and provide reliable conditions for sustainable development. We see this common aspiration as the ideological and psychological basis for work within the framework of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum.
It also helps us that the spiritual foundation of our societies is based on largely similar traditional values, ideals of truth and justice. This is our strength, a source of creative energy for developing mutually acceptable solutions to all the problems on our agenda.
Russia and Africa are united in the fact that it is possible to achieve the set goals only together and on the principles of equality, mutual respect and consideration of each other's interests.
I would like to thank our guests, representing almost all countries and integration associations of the African continent, for your commitment to further deepen mutually beneficial cooperation in the political, economic, humanitarian, as well as in the field of peace and security.
I want to assure you that we in Russia fully share this attitude. This was confirmed by the awarding of the first International Tolstoy Peace Prize to the African Union in September. Please accept our congratulations.
I am convinced that tomorrow we will take another step in the development of the Russian-African partnership for the benefit of all our countries and peoples. It is in our power to make sure that the new cooperation mechanism we have created acts as a driving force in the development of Russian-African relations, contributes to the formation of a more equitable multipolar world order, and ensures regional and global stability.
Our hospitable hosts today are the Russian Sirius University. In ancient mythology, Sirius was revered by various peoples as one of the brightest stars. It symbolizes eternity and immutability, is associated with the endless search for a claim and rebirth.
The friendship between Russia and the states and peoples of the African continent is experiencing a real revival today.
We are long-standing and loyal allies. So it was yesterday, so it is today, so it will undoubtedly be tomorrow.
