The Leo Tolstoy International Peace Prize Foundation hosted a meeting with Maria Victoria Alcaraz, a member of the award's jury, who came to Moscow to participate in the award ceremony for the 2026 laureate, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam To Lam. On behalf of the Foundation, the President of the Foundation, D.G. Zavgaev, welcomed the guest from Argentina. He noted the high level of professionalism and competence of the international jury, which has been making objective decisions for four years — decisions that have been met with approval by the public and have not provoked any critical remarks in the public domain. During the conversation, which took place in a warm and open atmosphere, D.G. Zavgaev provided a detailed account of the Foundation’s activities, which are aimed at promoting the consolidation of efforts by the international community in the pursuit of world peace, addressing charitable, cultural, and educational goals, as well as organizing practical work related to awarding the prize. An engaged exchange of views took place on the further promotion of the ideas and values that form the basis of the new public award, which is gaining increasing recognition and authority worldwide. D.G. Zavgaev spoke about the establishment of the honorary title of Ambassador of the Foundation, whose tasks include countering the threat of a third world war and preventing a nuclear catastrophe, promoting the building of a multipolar and non‑violent world, strengthening mutual understanding and cooperation between peoples, protecting human rights and freedoms, and informing the public about the Foundation’s activities. María Victoria Alcaraz responded to this message with interest and expressed a desire to become an ambassador for the Foundation (at the time of publication, the relevant decision on her appointment had been made by the general meeting of the Foundation’s founders). She also put forward specific ideas for promoting the goals and objectives of the Foundation in Argentina. In particular, she proposed organizing a study tour for Argentine cultural figures to Russia, as well as exploring the possibility of publishing a book by one of the well‑known Argentine writers in Russian, on a subject related to the Foundation and under its auspices. The meeting was attended by I.A. Makeichev, First Deputy Executive Director of the Foundation and V.A. Karasev, Deputy Executive Director of the Foundation.
