Dear friends!
First of all, I would like to thank the TASS press center for the opportunity to meet with Russian journalists at this hospitable venue. Thank you. The international patriotic campaign "Dictation of Victory" is being held for the seventh time. It is organized by the United RUSSIA Party, the Russian Historical Society, the Russian Military Historical Society and the All-Russian public movement "Volunteers of Victory".
The main purpose of Dictation has been and remains unchanged. It consists in defending the historical truth, forming solid knowledge among our citizens and citizens of other countries about the Great Patriotic War and the Second World War, and encouraging the participants of the action to broaden their historical horizons. In recent years, the Dictation of Victory has become a truly national project, has become an integral part of the celebration of our most precious, most important holiday - Victory Day.
Today, the Dictation of Victory embodies the connection of the times. Whenever we think back to the events of 80 years ago, we certainly cannot and should not miss what is happening here and now. Our country has once again risen up to fight the Nazi evil. Just a few hundred kilometers away, the Russian army is chasing the enemy from Russian soil. Heavy, daily combat work is underway. And therefore, of course, the tasks of the Dictation of Victory will again include questions that emphasize the continuity of the feat of the heroes of the Great Patriotic War and their descendants – our contemporaries, participants in the special military operation, the liberation operation.
It is also symbolic that this year the date of the Dictation, April 25, falls on the 80th anniversary of the significant meeting on the Elbe, the meeting of soldiers and officers of the Red Army with allies in the anti-Hitler coalition. This historical episode embodies the unity of free peoples who do not accept Nazism and fight against Nazism shoulder to shoulder. Today, Russia also unites many people of good will around itself. In this regard, I would like to emphasize that Dictation tasks, translated into 10 foreign languages, will be performed in more than 90 countries around the world, thereby paying tribute to the memory of the great generation of winners.
I am sure that the action will be even bigger than in previous years. Taking this opportunity, I urge everyone who has not yet decided for themselves whether or not to take part in the Dictation of Victory — be sure to try your hand. After all, the Dictation of Victory is not a competition or a competition, although, of course, we will certainly encourage the best participants. The main thing in Dictation is the opportunity to expand your historical knowledge and join like–minded people - people who think and are not indifferent.
The last thing I would like to say. An international historical forum and conference dedicated to the anniversary of the Great Victory was held in Moscow yesterday. It was attended by leading historians from more than 30 countries from all over the world – from the CIS countries, Europe, Asia, Africa and, of course, Russian historians. The Institute of General History of the Russian Academy of Sciences played a key role in the preparation of this forum. The same institute worked for a year on the collective monograph "The Peoples of the Soviet Union and the Great Victory." Moreover, each section of the monograph is devoted to the contribution to the Victory of one of the republics of the Soviet Union, and this section was prepared by historians from the relevant country of the Commonwealth of Independent States. At the moment, this book has already been published – just on the eve of the great Victory Day holiday. Of course, it is important for us that not only in Russia, but also in foreign countries, and even more so in friendly countries, the memory of the Victory, the memory of the decisive role of the peoples of the Soviet Union in the victory.
