By decision of the jury of the International Leo Tolstoy Peace Prize, the laureates of the 2025 award have been announced as the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, and the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The leaders of the three countries have been honored with this public award for their significant personal contribution to strengthening peace and security in the Central Asian region.

On March 31, 2025, in Khujand (Tajikistan), they signed the Treaty on the Junction Point of State Borders and the Khujand Declaration of Eternal Friendship, thereby making a substantial contribution to ensuring universal and equal security based on the primacy of international law, as well as to strengthening mutual understanding and cooperation among peoples.

The joint efforts of the presidents, who have become laureates of the award, are aimed at ensuring stability and sustainable development, and at enhancing the international standing of the entire region.

The International Leo Tolstoy Peace Prize Foundation was established on June 22, 2022, by the Russian Historical Society, the Russian Peace Foundation, and the Russian Military Historical Society.

The international jury included prominent political and public figures of high moral authority and wide renown from Argentina, Belarus, India, China, Russia, France, South Africa, and Japan.

The chairman of the jury — the renowned conductor, artistic director and general director of the Mariinsky Theatre, and general director of the Bolshoi Theatre Valery Gergiev — emphasized in his welcoming address that the main task of the jury members is to “promote progress toward a certain level of understanding and mutual respect throughout the world.” Honoring today the efforts of the three Central Asian countries, Valery Gergiev noted with satisfaction that “the peace movement initiated by the Leo Tolstoy Peace Prize — the great Russian writer and philosopher — is reaching the most diverse parts of the vast globe.” The chairman of the jury, being “a man of the world of music, accustomed to speaking in the only language understandable to all peoples without an interpreter,” expressed the hope that the International Leo Tolstoy Peace Prize, like music, will “teach the people of different countries not only to listen to one another, but also to hear.”

The date of the solemn ceremony for presenting the International Leo Tolstoy Peace Prize will be announced in the near future.
